  • Provides effective leadership, management and supervision of assigned staff and related service delivery in a way that is consistent with the mission, vision, values, objectives, policies and standards of the Board of Health.

  • Leads program planning and delivery utilizing the Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS), Ontario Public Health Organizational Standards (OPHOS), appropriate policies and procedures, mandates, legislation and direction of the Executive Team.

  • Consults with the Executive Director to maintain and establish standards for providing programs and services.

  • Develops, implements and interprets Health Unit policies and procedures.

  • Develops and implements plans for new programs, special projects, and future staffing levels in their program area.

  • Participates in the Health Unit Annual Report and prepares administrative reports and briefs for the Executive Director, Medical Officer of Health and Board of Health, as required.

  • Coordinates statistical data management and report preparation, implementing continuous quality improvement within the program.

  • Prepares a comprehensive budget proposal for program(s) within portfolio and budget projections on an ongoing quarterly basis.

  • Represents the Health Unit at meetings with government officials, provincial and local committees, the public, the media, and other organizations.

  • Manages staff performance and performance mapping following Health Unit policies, collective agreements and applicable legislation.

COVID-19 Outbreak Management

  • Provide leadership, supervision, support and performance management of the OB team within the IDC Division.

  • Leads in developing or revising and implementing programs and policies to align with provincial changes related to Communicable Disease control.

  • Collaborates and manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including responding to inquiries from the public, Regional Departments and Ministries.

  • Supports the Director and Medical Officer of Health in responding to relevant media inquiries.

COVID-19 Outbreak Management

  • Provide leadership, supervision, support and performance management to a team of Nurses, Public Health Inspectors, and Program Assistants within the Infectious Disease Control (IDC) Division.
