With over 20 years of professional experience in a career I love, I have learned that nursing truly combines human compassion and brilliant knowledge of the sciences. A nursing influence touches not only patients' lives but also their families and the community in which they live. I am always eager to expand my role so I can lead in an exemplary manner. I have longstanding experience working with marginalized populations and expert knowledge of the social determinants of health, which provides me with unique perspectives. The core values that define me from within (professionally and personally) are trust and integrity. I feel that the qualities I embody are taught by setting an example, not by words alone. My strengths include being self-directed, professional, non-judgmental, empathetic, and determined, with the ability to learn quickly. I am in the process of completing a Master of Health Studies to broaden my knowledge further and build new skills so that I can pursue career opportunities in leadership. With over a decade of nursing in sexual health and harm reduction, I was redeployed in March 2020 to respond to, support and manage the COVID-19 pandemic within Halton Region. During the pandemic response, I was the manager of the community outbreak, where I provided leadership, supervision, and support to a team within the Infectious Disease Control (IDC) Division that managed investigations in school/childcare settings. I am happy to announce that I am back in the area I am truly passionate about as a program manager for Sexual Health and Harm Reduction in the new town where my family and I live, grow, work, and play.

Community Engagement Planning Committee; Coach/Mentor with Neighbor Care Network in collaboration with Kerr Street Mission, providing ongoing support and mentorship to care support volunteers so they can come alongside individuals and families in difficulty and distress. The care support volunteers work with clients to identify and access available resources so they can reach a more stable, sustainable situation and improve their overall health and well-being.

I identify as Métis and am a non-resident member of NunatuKavut Community Council representing NunatuKavut Inuit, who reside primarily in southern and central Labrador. I am a very proud mom of two amazing children (ages 12 and 16), whom we call “pewfies” (Filipino Newfies); happily married for 19 years to a very supportive partner; and an accepting recipient of sloppy kisses from our 65lb lapdog, a standard poodle. In my “spare” time ... I am an avid runner who loves to spend time in the great outdoors, skiing, hiking, paddle boarding, and any intentional time with my family. As a parent of two healthy and joy-filled children, I strive to be a positive role model and learn to achieve all professional and personal goals through my motivation, strength, and hard work.
