With over 18 years of professional experience in a career that I love, I have learned that nursing truly is a combination of human compassion and brilliant knowledge of the sciences. A nursing influence touches not only patients' lives but also their families and the community in which they live. I am always eager to expand my role so I can lead in an exemplary manner. I have a longstanding experience working with marginalized populations and expert knowledge of health's social determinants, which provides me with unique perspectives. The core values that define me from within (professionally and personally) are trust and integrity. I feel that the qualities I encompass are taught by setting an example and not with words alone. My areas of strength include being self-directed, professional, non-judgmental, empathetic, and a determined individual with the ability to learn quickly. I am in the process of completing a Master of Health Studies to broaden my knowledge further and build new skills so that I can pursue career opportunities in leadership. With over a decade of nursing in sexual health and harm reduction, I was redeployed in March 2020 to respond to, support and manage the COVID-19 pandemic within Halton Region. During the pandemic response, I was the manager in the community outbreak, where I provided leadership, supervision, and support to a team within the Infectious Disease Control (IDC) Division managing investigations for school/childcare settings. I am happy to announce that I am currently back in the area I am truly passionate about as a program manager of Sexual Health and Harm Reduction in the new town where my family and I live, grow, work and play.

I identify as Métis and am a non-resident member of NunatuKavut Community Council representing NunatuKavut Inuit, who reside primarily in southern and central Labrador. I am a very proud mom of two amazing children (ages 10 and 14), whom we call “pewfies” (Filipino Newfies); happily married for 18 years to a very supportive partner; and an accepting receiver of sloppy kisses from our 60lb lap dog standard poodle. In my “spare” time ... I am an avid runner who loves to spend time in the great outdoors, skiing, hiking, paddle boarding, and any intentional time with my family. As a parent of two healthy and joy-filled children, I strive to be a positive role model and learn to achieve all professional and personal goals through my motivation, strength, and hard work.
